Reading at Home

Hastings Reading by the Window

I have a stack of books just waiting to be read! I want to spend the weekend drinking tea, eating light meals and reading in the parlor. In order to accomplish this lovely feat, I will have to work extra hard around the house to prepare.

My laundry must be finished.
My house must be clean.
My errands must be done.

I will enjoy the tasks which will make my rest that much more pleasant.

What is your favorite author? What book do you enjoy reading the most?

Blessings,
Mrs. White

Awww, I hope you get it all done, as I will be living vicariously through your down time. No reading for me :( unless you count the text book and research I'll be sorting through!

Enjoy!

In the past year I have bought more than 7 of Cathy Burns's books(libertytothecaptives.net sells them and I buy them through her ministry-Sharing- no web site).

I always have a huge stack of books on my nightstand. Right now I'm reading RC Sproul's commentary on Romans- I think I need to re-read the chapters on Romans 11, it's so deep. I'm also reading George Washington's Sacred Fire by Peter Lillback and A Family Guide to the Biblical Holidays by Robin Sampson. I've got lots of books in waiting, too. I'll spend some time on Bible study this weekend, too. I just started studing the Divided Kingdom in CBS. My plan is to let my kids stay up as late as they want and watch movies tonight. This way I know I'll get a couple of hours of reading in! Tomorrow maybe some of the kids will go to the ranch with my folks. I know I'll do tons of reading with my kids this weekend, too. I'm doing FIAR with my 4 yr old and he always gets squeezed during the week. The older kids and I will probably read some Witch of Blackbird Pond and listen to a CD on Puritans vs Witches from Vision Forum.

All in all I hope it will be a relaxing weekend! I hope you enjoy yours and get to read as much as you hope to!

I love to read but haven't done it regularly since my daughter was born. I'm making it a point to read a few minutes daily at the least. Thanks for stopping by my blog. I'm your 400th follower! Take care =)

I am very fond of my "Streams in the Desert Journal". First published in 1928, I love the old expressions and devotionals in this book. I make little notes in it and it is intersting to see what was on my mind in previous years ... worries that turned out okay! :-)

Keepersofthefaith.com has many good Christian books(Evidence Not Seen by Darlene Deibler Rose-a missionary memoir-WWII) and good articles and book reviews on their web site. I have 4 of Jordan Rubin's(Messianic) books: The Maker's Diet,The Great Physician's Rx for Health, The Great Physician's Rx for Women's Health, and The Great Physician's Rx for Children's Health. The last three were co-authored with M.D.'s.

I recently read Disney and the Bible(1996). I will not give away my Mary Pride books(home-school.com)- The Way Home, All the Way Home, Schoolproof, etc. and a few copies of her Practical Homeschooling Magazine. Amusing Ourselves to Death by Neil Postman is one of my favorite books.
