I find gradually adding things to the diets help transition the family to better eating. For example, I started adding quinoa into my rice, when I make spanish rice and other dishes. My family discovered they really liked it.

Always drink a glass of water first-a lot of times you may think that you are hungry and really your body is dehydrated.

Eat breakfast by 8:00 a.m. to follow the natural rise in your cortisol levels (your cortisol level peaks around 8:00am)- this will help keep hormone levels even and help burn your calories.

We try not to bring junk food in the house. If I make a treat, we have it one or two times and then I send the leftovers to my DH's work place.

My tip for eating healthy is 3-5 servings of whole fruit because whole fruits keep you full longer.

In every meal, try to include a carb source and a protein source (and yes, even a bit of fat) to stay satiated.

Enjoy fruits and veggies! If you eat one banana or carrot, and are still hungry, go for another banana or carrot! They're healthier than reaching for a muffin or granola bar!

I like to eat lots of raw fruits and veggies.

Plan ahead! Cut up veggies for snacks, stash some healthy snacks in your purse or desk drawer, have one or two quick & easy dinners that you can fall back on. Having a more healthy option when you are hungry/tired makes it much easier to stick to a diet.
