Illustrated Bible Dictionary for Kids

TOS Crew Review

Lifeway Christian Stores presents:

Hardcover Book - Illustrated Bible Dictionary for Kids

Publisher - B and H Publishing Group

Price - $14.99

This is a large, colorful encyclopedia-type book. It contains 750 Bible terms and uses the KJV. The introduction describes it as a reference tool for children. There are over 200 pages. Here is some of what you'll find inside:

1. The Apostles - you'll see small paintings of each of the 12 men to give children an idea of what they may have looked like. Beside each figure is their name and a brief description of who they were and what they are known for. (Such as Thomas who doubted and Judas who betrayed Jesus.)

2. Isaac -The promised child born to Abraham and Sarah in their old age. There is a beautiful painting of the elderly couple, with white hair, smiling and looking at the baby. It makes you realize how old they were when he was born!

3. Full color maps and paintings which are very vivid. (I did not see any graphic pictures, which I was thankful for!)

4. Words and definitions of such things as: Glory; Godliness; Ivory; Cymbals; Patriarch; and Rainbow.

5. Charts for subjects like - "The Jewish feasts" and "Weights and Measures."  Both charts are fascinating and really help the reader understand Biblical terms relating to these items.

6. Note -There were a few short passages which came from an opinion standpoint - such as The Christian Sabbath vs. The Jewish Sabbath, but parents can use this to open up discussions. There were only a few in the entire book that I noticed.

Overall, this is a useful, helpful publication which would be enjoyed by many children. I think it will help inspire them and strengthen their knowledge.
