Booker T. Washington's autobiography(Abeka books)-American literature 11th grade was interesting. We used Uncle Tom's Cabin-book and movie for American literature. We enjoyed Robinson Crusoe(Veritas Press)-British literature-12th grade and watched a few of the movies(compare and contrast). The black and white movie was closest to the book. We liked the foreign film-Babette's Feast. I think that one was recommended by Above Rubies magazine(Nancy Campbell).Tarynhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07322888339057936230noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4718905863879655459.post-90162564984859582702011-08-13T14:20:55.035-04:002011-08-13T14:20:55.035-04:00I don't intend to read War and Peace but somed...I don't intend to read War and Peace but someday I want to see the movie. I read the book is confusing because Tolstoy calls character's by different names,if I remember correctly. I usually like the books better then the movies but there are exceptions in my opinion-The Hiding Place, Sense and Sensibility(with Kate Winslet-I cry everytime I see it),etc. These two were very good movies. I read a bio on Tolstoy(and his family life...) years ago that was not as positive as the one you read. Have you read Jane Eyre? I think I've seen every Jane Eyre movie. The book and movies were interesting.Tarynhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07322888339057936230noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4718905863879655459.post-78382981411416418612011-08-12T14:30:32.360-04:002011-08-12T14:30:32.360-04:00"I cannot rush or let any of it cause stress...."I cannot rush or let any of it cause stress. Life is hard enough without any additional burdens."
As I struggle with this debilitating disease I am stressed about how far behind I am on obligations. I pray for guidance on how to get everything done while I cope with the pain. I haven't read Dombey and Son, but it sounds like a good book to add to my winter reading list.

I like Mr. White's suggestion for your helping, and that your presence promotes peace. I need to work on that -- so often I am busy, flitting from one thing to another, and don't take the time to sit down and encourage our girls in their work.Jeanhttp://homesweethomeschool.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4718905863879655459.post-26135583395868688602011-08-11T21:28:42.123-04:002011-08-11T21:28:42.123-04:00Mrs.White, It is so good to hear from you! Here in Texas, this is the first day in over forty days we didn't reach 100 degrees.
Blessings,
LindaLindahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16500855705967316748noreply@blogger.com
