Reverence and Awe at Church

Indian Summer I

I remember, as a small child, walking into an enormous church building. There were stone walkways and stained glass windows. This church was up on a hill. Everyone was dressed in their best - suits and ties for men.... dresses and sweaters for the ladies.

Everyone carried a Bible and walked up to the front door to enter the church.

When you walked in, you were just silenced and amazed. You took a seat in the pew and quietly participated in the service. The minister preached and the congregation sang some hymns. There were prayers and then everyone would get up to leave.

There was so much reverence and awe for the worship of God in that old church.

No one played in church. It wasn't the place for that. There were no programs from the world to draw us all in. It was somber. . . . It was a serious time for the soul.

Where are those churches now? I desperately need one for my family.

I know this is an older post, but new to me. We also cannot find such a church. We have no church because in our area TOO much playing and programs. Lack of leadership and BIBLICAL TEACHING. Some say to go anyway..but we feel it is too much compromosing. Far too much. God bless you and yours.
