The Parlour in the Morning

Victorian Kitchen

It is early in the morning and the sun has not yet come up. It is dark and lovely in our cozy house. A few minutes ago, I walked into the parlour and saw the blazing wood stove and a calming gentle light casting shadows in the little room. I saw my favorite chair and wanted nothing more than to sit and read and get warm before anyone woke up. I will do that in just a little while.

I will make a little hot chocolate in a pretty tea cup. Then I will settle myself down and enjoy the quiet. A few days ago, I finished reading Dombey and Son by Charles Dickens. It was a sad and precious story. Now I am working on a new book. It is set in early America when most households had servants. It is intriguing and entertaining. But best of all, it is a Christian book by Revell and I will be writing a review for it in just another week or two.

All too soon, the family will be awake and wanting breakfast and conversation. The house will come to life and it will be pleasant. I will be delighted to face the family with happiness and cheer. But first, I must sit in the dimly lit, cozy parlour and read my book and drink hot chocolate.

Blessings
Mrs. White

Mrs. White,
What a pleasant way to start the day!

Our home is warmer this morning, but when it's below zero outside our house knows it and isn't as warm as I like. Makes me appreciate Spring.

May you have a sweet valentines day.
February blessings to you,
d

Hi Mrs. White! I haven't stopped by to say hello in a while, so I just wanted to do that today. :) Also, I'm not seeing the picture that should be at the top of this post. Other folks may see it, but I just see an empty box with a little red x in one corner. Just thought you might want to know. I'm glad to know you're keeping warm during all this cold weather!!

Blessings,

Wendy

I enjoy a cup of coffee with my husband and read my Bible, sometimes we're lucky and it's just the two of us, other days there is a little snuggle bug in our midst : )
