I Fell While Hanging Curtains

Woman Ironing in Slum Home

Remember how I told you that I washed my living room curtains? Well, I didn't want to put them up just yet. The large windows looked so pretty and made the room look spacious, bright and cheerful. Well, that lasted for a couple of days and then I wanted my cozy curtains back.

First I had to iron them. . I *love* ironing. I love setting up the ironing board and standing over the warm fabric and watching all the wrinkles go away. I had a lovely time ironing my burgundy, sheer curtains.

Then it was time to hang them up. I went over and stood on a chair. I reached up and hung up the first curtain, but then I fell and landed on the wood stove (it was off). There was a quiet crash (I fall quietly). There was tremendous pain in my arm and shin. I just stayed there on the floor, waiting for the pain to go away. When it lessened enough for me to get up, I went right back to my ironing.

I wobbled and limped, but I was going to enjoy my work. (smiles) Then I had a dizzy spell, so I got the stool and sat down while I finished my ironing. I managed to hang up the rest of the curtains and now I think I will iron 2 of my aprons.

After that, I promise I will go lay down... but wait... there is some paperwork on the hutch that I want to clear away. I know I should not keep cleaning . .  keep working . .  keep having all this fun... (how selfish of me! -smiles). . But after that I will go lay down... or, after I get the supper out of the oven...

Blessings

Be careful! And get some rest. I know how hard it is to stop all that working! (smiles) Blessings!

OUCH! You ARE a trooper, Sharon!

I hope there won't be any long-term repercussions from that fall?!

So now I'm torn. You see, I want to tell you how lovely that room looks, but don't want to encourage you in beating up your body! What's a lass to do?!:)

Mrs. White, the room does look so bright and sunny and clean. I can see all your hard work. You should rest- maybe with a warm bath to help with any soreness. Take care!

Ooh - I hate it when that happens!
I know what you mean though - about taking a break - I'm due to have a baby in a month and I keep saying, "Okay, enough standing up now! (I too enjoy ironing :) My feet are swelled. My hips are aching. After I do this one little last thing I'm going to sit down and put my feet up for a few minutes and knit or read. Yes, as soon as I tidy this one last area (or two)."

Hope you've healed up okay. :)
