I use coupons every once and a while but had tried to get all organized with it and use them all the time but felt like for the most part I wasn't saving as much as when I was just shopping like I always did- frugally, no processed foods, items for home cooked meals only. (Except for the occasional splurge of course). I also have four children...for now...2 girls followed by 1 boy and then a little girl. (I'm praying for a 5th...boy...only the Lord knows!) I'm part of the TOS Crew!! GREAT blog! I'm a follower for sure!!Krissyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09945682111657165793noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4718905863879655459.post-55163020803572515392010-04-18T16:24:24.148-04:002010-04-18T16:24:24.148-04:00Loved your post. That is exactly how I was feeling, and having health issues, I could not justify all the running around for things that weren't that healthy for me or my family anyway.

I only try to buy foods that are as natural as possible without additives (I cook from scratch), and use just a few coupons for things like paper goods when warranted. Makes my life simpler and I'm at home a lot more. I'm also not wasting my precious time and energy running around for deals. I can't use coupons there, and their prices are so much lower, I think I do pretty well.

To be honest, I'm just not organized enough for coupons! I used to cut them out, then forget to use them, or spend endless hours in stores trying to find the right product. It just isn't worth it to me at this point in my life.

Lots of love to ya!!! :)The Crazy Momhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11289367291336761873noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4718905863879655459.post-1154479922956889112010-04-16T11:57:04.452-04:002010-04-16T11:57:04.452-04:00I fall in the middle ground - I absolutely use cou...I fall in the middle ground - I absolutely use coupons. But I make them work for me by saving them until I can use them on something that is already on sale - and then I buy as many as I have coupons for. That has allowed me to get some really good price on the things I like to keep on hand, like flour for about $5/bag (excellent price in my area), canned Chunky soup for under a dollar a can, whole wheat pasta for $0.50 a box, pasta sauce for $0.50 a bottle, rice and pasta side dishes for $0.25 to $0.50... and has brought me to a place where I refuse to pay more than $2.00 for a box of cereal. Most often I get it for about $1.50.

I also use them religiously for cleaning products, etc... I have probably six months' worth of a good-quality laundry detergent in the basement which was on sale for $5.00 when I had $3.00 coupons for it!! :o)

I do use coupons sometimes as an excuse to try a new product, but that is the exception rather than the rule. There is a danger in getting drawn into that... especially as the end of the month approaches and I see how many coupons I have that are due to expire, and I am tempted to shop just for the sake of using them. They are all for products we would normally buy, but not for things we need right now - so I try to keep it balanced. I do want a well-stocked pantry, but I don't want to become a hoarder!! It isn't that I didn't do well feeding our growing family on that method. Instead, it is moving to an area with LESS of those options. There are some stores with sales here and there, but the coupons in the paper here are few and not that great. No sense using coupons for things you would not normally buy, either.

Breadmaking is going to get more attention in our house as growing boys can feel more full on homemade bread with butter or jam than all the 'snack' foods marketed to them.Laura O in AKhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16553515030417720783noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4718905863879655459.post-2403874337765614832010-04-15T14:22:34.781-04:002010-04-15T14:22:34.781-04:00This is so neat. Plus my family and I just moved and change our life style. So this is very informative for me. I am saving this to show my hubby when he gets homekristyhttp://www.summitcampinggear.comnoreply@blogger.com
