Early Morning Homemaking
The early morning Vermont air is cool. It is quiet and peaceful. I am thinking about buying a few groceries and planning our supper. I want to make biscuits this morning, with fried potatoes and cantaloupe. I want to tidy up the house and make things look pretty.
In just a little bit, I will do my Bible reading. I will sit near my favorite window in the living room and look out at the landscape of our front property.
The children will be awake in an hour or so. I want to enjoy the quiet morning while I can. I want to be cheerful and happy and pleasant when they all wake up. I need to make sure I am ready for the day.
What special treat will you make for breakfast this morning?
Blessings,
Mrs. White

We are having Hurricane Honey Nut Cheerios and Tropical Cyclone Shredded Wheat because we will be too busy battening down the hatches here in Tidewater Virginia preparing for our unwanted guest, Hurricane Earl, to cook.
ReplyDeleteI'd much rather be making biscuits or my favorite, Texas French Toast (ie. French Toast made using Texas Toast bread).
I hope you had a pleasant morning. Sounds wonderful. I am off to tie down all the chickens and hide the horses...lol. Have a blessed day.

I'll make The Fannie Farmer Cookbook Quick coffee cake-but I call it Morning Cinnamon Cake(and add a little water to moisten it). It's my son's(17) favorite breakfast food. It requires one egg/milk and we have to use up our cold foods in case our electric goes out Friday when Long Island gets wind and rain from the hurricane.
ReplyDeleteI've just decided only recently to make something more substantial for breakfast than just handing out bowls of cereal. It's just that full-on breakfast foods take up so much in the grocery budget. How do you do it, Mrs. White? I'd love some advice. I want my family to remember waking up to quiet mornings with a cheerful mother and wonderful smells coming from the kitchen.
ReplyDeleteHeather - Prayed for your safety!
I see that hubby fed my sourdough starter last night. So Im assuming he is wanting pancakes for breakfast this morning. It might be too damp to make crunchy bread, but I might get a loaf to rising. :)
ReplyDeleteHeather, I hope the weather is okay!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Funfunfun! (smiles)
Taryn, your breakfast sounds great!
The Momma Chronicles, I'll write about that in a few days and come back here with the link. Thanks for asking!
