I got up early this morning to put the turkey in the oven. I always try to do it myself before anyone else wakes up. I want to surprise them. I want to say, "don't worry, it is already in the oven!" It is a challenge because I am not strong enough to handle the turkey alone. Thankfully, someone always steps in just in time to help me. I can barely lift the turkey and have a great deal of trouble getting it ready and into the oven. So I am thankful for the help.
Years ago, my mother and father hosted our Thanksgiving dinners here, where we all lived together. We had three generations (then four generations for a short while) all living in this house. That was a long time ago and there are many good memories of family, tradition, and the love of home.
When I first started making the turkey myself, I would get advice from my mother. After she passed away, I remembered what she taught me. Year after year, I still remember what she said and am able to prepare the turkey each Thanksgiving. I am grateful.
I wanted to write this post much earlier this morning but have not had a chance until now. I am slowly setting the table and getting things ready in a way that reminds me of "playing house." I am just making things look nice at a slow and steady pace.

I am going to my parent's house for Thanksgiving. I will celebrate with them, my, husband, and my brother. My son and his family are unable to join us and this makes me sad, but I still plan to have a joyful day. I have made pumpkin pies, cranberry sauce and dinner rolls for our meal. We plan to visit other family tomorrow evening and have more pie. No shopping for us. We have never done this. Instead, I want to spend time with my family while we are still all here. email: anderson1672@frontier.com. I love to read your posts every time I see them in my inbox. Thank you. Your messages are always so relaxing and peaceful to read.
My husband and I were scheduled to be alone this Thanksgiving since our children and grands went other places; however, God had a cousin of mine to message me yesterday just to chat and I found out she had nowhere to go today so she's joining the two of us. It will be good to visit with her.
Happy Thanksgiving, Mrs. White! I have such fond memories of gathering around the table at my parents' house both as a child and an adult. I miss them dearly as I do my grandparents who would sometimes visit with us for that holiday. May yours be a blessed one this year. My email: marthaorlando@gmail.com
There is so much to be thankful for in this difficult year.
I will be spending the day with my widowed mother and my brother-in-law's stepmother. We are all bringing our specialties to the supper so no one person has to do all the work. Mother will make the turkey and I will carve. We will also have cranberry sauce, stuffing with diced apples from her tree, gravy, yams with peaches and cashews, pumpkin pie, green beans with cranberries, mashed potatoes, etc... Our extended family spread to the four winds once Grammy passed. I still remember all the recipes I learned from my family. My aunts each had their contributions and I loved to sit at the counter and watch them all move in the kitchen like dancers, never in anyone's way. All three of us will have leftovers and one of my coworkers has ham for her family and will bring me the bone. So next weekend my apt will smell of beans with ham and cornbread. Another thing I learned from my darling mother. I learned turkey soup with the leftover turkey bones from my father. It is delightful and will be made tomorrow with plenty of turkey and veggies. I am single and live alone so I share my creations with coworkers and my mother with plenty left over for the freezer when I need a quick meal.
We drove yesterday to visit our daughter and her family for Thanksgiving! We're In The thick of it with 9 of our grandkids preparing the meal! Have a blessed Thanksgiving 😍
Happy Thanksgiving to all,
Englisch is not my first language so excuse me for making mistakes.
Here in the Netherlands we don't celebrate Thanksgiving.
Therefore we invented our own tradition to come together in the midst of november and on the, what we call, third Christmas Day.
We have six children with their partners and lots of grandchildren and our first great grandchild. Some also with their friend. Not Everybody is able to come on those two days. Their doing their best. Everybody brings in some sort of food.
I take care of the soup and the cakes. We have a very small house but we fit in. We enjoy being together, play some games, making memories
Happy Thanksgiving! I am so thankful for my salvation through Jesus Christ alone! I love your books and have purchased almost all of them. I’m not sure how I missed this one, but am excited to have a chance to receive a copy. micheleneugebauer2015(at)gmail(dot)com (written out to avoid spam)
Happy Thanksgiving, Mrs. White.
We always host Thanksgiving and we have 16 people for dinner today. 5 of the invites had to back out so there would have been 21!! I am very thankful this year that the dear Lord enable me to continue doing this every year, along with the help of my dear husband. Have a beautiful day!!!
Thanksgiving Blessings to you and your loved ones! We'll have a late lunch with our daughter-in-law's parents, two grands, our DIL and her sister. Unfortunately, our son woke with a cold he doesn't want to share with us. We, too, have loved ones we'll connect to with phone and FaceTime later.
Happy Thanksgiving Mrs. White!
This year we are looking forward to celebrating the holiday with family. We will traveling to my husbands childhood home to celebrate with our families. Later we will have a fun evening of games and dessert. For the supper I am preparing dinner rolls, sweet potato casserole and stuffed eggs to contribute to the meal. It was requested that I also make pumpkin pie as well as apple crumble for family to enjoy, it’s one of their favorites.
We are so very thankful to have our grandmothers still with us. They are 94 and 92. We are cherishing every gathering and holiday with them. One of our favorite things about traveling to someone’s home for the holidays is the feeling of coming back home to our own special place of belonging and reflecting on the loveliness of family and home.
Praying you and yours have a beautiful holiday full of peace and love.

I put my turkey in the oven early this morning too. I have the cornbread dressing made too. It will just be two of us for dinner today and our big family celebration will be on Sunday. I understand what you mean about lifting a heavy turkey into the oven. I need to have help with that too these days. I also have wonderful memories from days gone by when my parents and grandparents were all still living and those big family holiday get togethers. They are always in my thoughts on days like this.
Happy Thanksgiving to all! I’m so thankful that the Lord has brought my daughter closer to home. I’m making my mother’s “candied sweet potatoes” from her handwritten, syrup splattered recipe. I also made a pumpkin casserole from one of the outside pumpkins, not thinking both these dishes are orange and maple-y. lol. My daughter said “in spirit, they will be different”:).
I am waiting for my son and grand kids to come. We are having roast chicken, ham, and Polish sausage, plus stuffing and mashed potatoes and gravy and lots of veggies and fruits and desserts. Unfortunately the roads from the Twin Cities are very bad and icy. Everyone is still coming, but taking it slow. I am praying for their safety. So much to be thankful for up here in the north country where peace and quiet reign. A blessed Thanksgiving to all! hballard@arvig.net

Hi
I always look forward to your writings
I’m in Canada, our thanksgiving was a meal with family and in-laws
Was very special
Hello. Mrs. White🏡
I pray you have a Happy Thanksgiving with your beautiful family.
I am thankful this year, as we lost our land and home in March and we were able to find a very small cottage owned by a friend just in time. It's cozy and snug, and I know the Lord has provided for us.
God bless you.🕯️🧡
We have had many trials this year but the blessings have been way more abundant. My husband had a stroke 6 weeks ago and he’s doing so much better. (Blessing) I have been going through breast cancer treatments and am unable to do much physically, but am so thrilled by how far I’ve progressed. The biggest blessing is having my 21 year old granddaughter drive from an hour away to help with the entire meal for just the 3 of us. We all tried to help, but we did very little. We are so very blessed. Please notify me if I win at my email, grammyyork6@gmail.com, or at my phone #717-813-3714. Thank you
