The Family Daughter - Giveaway

Book - The Family Daughter - Becoming Pillars of Strength in our Father's House.

Author - Sarah L. Bryant

Publisher - KBR Ministries

Price - $12.00

This book is absolutely beautiful! It is professionally published with a high quality cover. Each chapter  starts with a Bible verse in pretty script writing. Ten chapters cover the following topics:

1. An Abundant Season.
2. In My Father's House.
3. Our Parent's Joy.
4. The Family Sister.
5. Pillars of Strength.
6. A Humble Maidservant.
7. The Spotless Maiden.
8. The Appointed Time.
9. Reflecting the Light.
10. Bouquet of Beauty.

As I read, I felt very calm. Sarah's writing is focused and inspiring. She shares important lessons on being a godly daughter at home. She also talks about some of her experiences in learning and growing in the Lord. We see real-life examples of her life at home. We get a glimpse into her heart concerning the importance of living a holy, consecrated life.

Interspersed throughout, you'll find testimonies of 11 other girls. You will see that there are many daughters living at home who are committed to their father's vision and the ministry of home. This is such an encouragment!

The following excerpts will help you see what is inside this book:

- On page 163, she asks you spend 15 minutes of your spare time, each day, seeking the Lord. She suggests singing, journaling, memorizing Bible verses and prayer.

- On page 136, she says, "Women have great influence in a culture. As daughters, we impact many lives through the choices we make. If you do not think serving the Lord in your home is of much importance, you are missing so much!"

- Page 136 - "The feminist movement in our society has affected the ambitions of women. Many girls fight against anything to do with being feminine."

- Page 86 - "Children grow up and mature so quickly. I feel both eager anticipation for the coming years my siblings and I will enjoy together, and also the trepidation as I realize this season together will not last long."

Sarah wrote The Family Daughter when she was 18 years old. She is the oldest of eight children and the editor of The King's Blooming Rose magazine. Reading her book is like gleaning loving advice from an older sister.

My favorite aspect of homemaking...gosh...there is so much I love about being a keeper of my home. I guess the most *important* thing would be the feeling at the end of the day...knowing the house is clean, everyone is well-fed and cared for, my husband is happy and my God is pleased. :)

If you mean our favorite thing to do with housekeeping...I would say I love hanging clothes out on the line on a nice day.

So...how did I miss your first entry requirement?!! So sorry!!

My favorite homemaking activity...hmmm...honestly none of it is fun because I'm just now learning so much, how to cook healthier, clean better, cook better, organize better, keep a better spirit better etc. BUT I will have to say that when I do bake something that's homemade and healthy I have such a satisfaction knowing that my family is getting the best of what I have to offer.

Hi from the blog hop. My favorite aspect of homemaking is being available 24/7 for my son and husband. My husband works long, stressful hours so it is always nice to be able to help him out with all the other struggles of daily life. And my son is only 3, and it has always been of strong importance to me to be home with the children instead of working outside. :)

My favorite aspect of homemaking is having the house in order when my husband comes home. He works out of town and is gone for a week or more at a time. I find it is the best way to show my appreciation for his sacrifice of being away from the family by having the house clean, dishes done, laundry done (clean, dry, and put away) and the kids bathed.

He works so hard for us while he is away at work, I love being able to provide a place for him to come home to where he can relax and enjoy being with us instead of worrying about a messy home.

I love that I've finally come to the realization that my position as a wife, mother, homemaker, and homeschooler is my calling from God. This is the way that I can serve Him - by serving my family.

I love being a homemaker! It is a joy being here, loving my husband and 8 children. I am thankful that we are home-centered, rather than activity-centered. We cherish our time together and guard it. How can we be keepers at home, if we are not home?

Thank you for hosting this giveaway!

I am a new follower from the Friendly Friday hop. I love being able to be home with my daughters, teaching them not only their letters, numbers, colors and such, but how to cook and bake and do laundry. I am still quite new to this, really feel I failed with my 3 older children. I want to be a good role model for my girls.

Does being a mother fall under the "homemaker" umbrella? If so, that's it! More typical "house stuff", I'm weird but I LOVE LOVE LOVE to hang laundry on the clothesline, it's like a drug, it calms me right down!

My favorite part of homemaking is creating a home for my family. Yes that seems a little redundant. But who else can create a home. Who else can be the mom to my kids and KNOW them without talking to them. I can tell by the look in their eyes or the smirk on their face what they are up to. I'm able to teach and train my son who has ADHD & ODD without making him feel that he is different. I am the one who is with them 24/7, when daddy is deployed or overseas on an unaccompanied tour, I'm the one who holds them and makes sure they understand why we are in the Army and why daddy has to go away sometimes. I'm the one who knows everything about my children. I am the one that if my husband calls from work or from overseas and needs something done immediately, I can stop everything and help him. I don't leave him stranded because "I'm too busy at work". I love being a stay at home mom!!!
