Publisher - Revell
This story is set in the early 1800's, in Virginia. It is a historical fiction work and centers around a specific crisis in America at that time - When relations between England and America were difficult and dangerous.
There are a couple of main characters who are intriguing. You will meet a Midwife - Tabitha, a British redemptioner - Dominick, as well as many servants, and townspeople. The story itself is fascinating, brilliantly written and amazing! I was taken in on the very first page and did not want to put the book down.
You'll find a gentle love story emerging. You will be kept in hopeful suspense about a variety of situations. You will love reading about life for servants and the working class. The town is right on the ocean and there are stories about missing men who are taken away at sea by the English. There is fear and suspicion. And through it all is faith in God, and those who struggle with faith in God. Overall, an excellent story!
