Making the Morning Pleasant for the Family

Country Kitchen with Tile Countertops

The sun is just now rising. The house is warm and cozy. The family is still sleeping. This is the quiet time of the morning kitchen. This is the time to start the coffee, or make the tea, and begin the housework.  Pull out your best china cup and have your favorite hot drink while you work!

I will be making chocolate chip muffins today. I will get right to work in just a little while. The aroma of freshly baked muffins and coffee in the morning will help cheer up the family.

I have some errands to do and other adventures to accomplish. This is my to-do list. Instead of writing what I have to do, at the top of the page, I write "Today's Adventures!" and then write my list. It is all in the attitude!  Our morning will go smoothly despite any grumpy- morning- people, if I am cheerful and prepared for a happy morning.

There are other ways to brighten the day for the family. Last month, Mr. White bought a cute little stuffed elephant. He set it on the kitchen table in Amy's (16) spot. When she woke up, she walked into the room, spotted the elephant and her eyes widened. She smiled and said, "Is this for me?" She was so happy. It really helped make her day pleasant.

Amy told me later that she thinks everyone's day should start with a little elephant.

What are you ideas for starting the day happily?

Blessings
Mrs. White

This made me smile. You are right. Calling to-dos 'adventures' makes a difference!

I love this post, I too enjoy making coffee to greet my husband's morning!

I don't do muffin but oatmeal since all our little girls are still very little

My husband on the other hand love eggs, potatoes, bacon and fresh toast :-)

I'm working on this; in the last month, mornings have really become a struggle for me (up nursing a newborn much of the night). Good thoughts!

I love calling your "to do" list your daily adventures. What a great way to change perspective.

Time with the Lord first thing refreshes me and changes my perspective.

It is all about attitude :) Thanks for sharing your a.m. routine as I so much need one. BTW, it's chocolate chip scones at this house...

Thanks for setting the mood for a great morning. I really enjoy starting my day with God's word in the quiet of the morning. I let my (last) homeschooler sleep in so I can enjoy my time with the Lord. (They say they grow when they're asleep. My baby is 6' 3"!) When he gets up, we start our homeschooling with Bible study so I get a double dose!

Thanks for sharing this you have such great ideas. I love the Daily Adventure idea. Mornings can be a struggle always busy getting daddy out to work etc.
I love giving my children a hug in the morning telling them goodmorning and asking them how they slept etc.
