A Confinement

Mrs. White's Parlour in Vermont

This has been a cozy winter, here in New England.  Last month brought us many snowstorms which kept us indoors much of the time.  We are in the midst of a below zero cold spell right now. It is a time to rest and keep busy indoors.

A gentle sickness has brought a confinement.  I am weary and struggling, but know it should only last a week or so.  I have been resting on the parlour couch reading a Grace Livingston Hill book, but taking many breaks to give in to much needed slumber.

Sweet visitors come throughout the day-  One of my daughters and her brood of sweet children.  Their mother comes for coffee, knowing Papa keeps a fresh pot regularly brewing.  I also love their visits, even if I am sound asleep and they wake me up.  It is cheerful to have such special visitors.

It feels like I am in a home hospital, getting plenty of rest, combined with precious family who are as quiet as can be part of the time, yet mostly lovely and loud as is their sweet nature.

I wanted to check in for a quick visit with all of you. I may be gone for awhile, perhaps a few weeks. But will return as soon as I am able.

Blessings
Mrs.White

Dear Mrs. White,
I am sorry to hear that you have not been feeling well. I will tell you that I check on your Blog DAILY to see if you have made a new post. I must say that I was excited to see that there was a new one today, but I was unhappy to find out that you've been ill. Please know that I am lifting you up to The Lord in Prayer for Healing. <3

We do not have a television, but I have read about the coming weather in your area. We just got done with sub-zero temps, but still experiencing high winds here by Lake Superior. I do hope you feel better to enjoy the sights and sounds of the grandbabies wanting and deserving all the attention they need! When I was a little girl and would get a nasty cold, my mother would mix tea and honey and put it into my play tea set and to have a tea party with "real" tea was such a pick-me-upper! Of course, some made it to the floor which is way that didn't happen often:) but the fond memories were worth it, for both me and my mother!! Get some rest.

Dear Mrs. White, I'm so glad you let us know. You have an amazing way of making even times of trial and/or illness sound pleasant.

Father God, I thank you for your loving kindness and mercy. Thank you Jesus for the stripes you took on your back as you were tortured for us, for our sins, for our healing. Jesus, please pour your healing power into Mrs. White's body. Bring strength and good health from head to toe. I ask it all in the Name of Jesus by the Power of the Blood You shed. Amen.

Hugs to you Mrs. White,

Dear, May you rest and recover soon! It is so good that you have enjoyed a good book while resting! How nice that the kids drop in for a visit and to check on you! There is just something about always having a pot of coffee or tea kept warm for a cozy visit or to warm oneself up in the cold weather. I will be praying for you!
Blessings, Roxy

I agree with Laura; you have a way of writing that makes even illness sound pleasant. Perhaps it is because you are wise and gentle in your care for yourself. So many women push themselves beyond the point of endurance, or feel guilty for resting. You seem to gently acknowledge that "we are but dust" (frail and weak at times, and not machines that can go on and on without stopping) and rest and allow others to come and go and enjoy tea. What a wonderful way to deal with things! A Grace Livingston Hill book and a nice nap sound wonderfully restorative.
I will pray you feel better soon.
Blessings, Deborah

Mrs White,
I do pray you are feeling well soon! And that things warm up there. :)

Have you ever shared your favorite books? I'd love to know what you enjoy reading. You mentioned Grace Livingston Hill, who else?
