Happy Thanksgiving

Dr. Johnson, president of Howard University, saying grace before Thanksgiving dinner in 1942.      (Library of Congress)

Each year we gather around the kitchen table for a large traditional dinner.  There is a wonderful variety of good things to eat and we delight in enjoying the happy time with the family.  Here is the day when we think about the year and the blessings we have.  We think about all the ways in which the Lord has guided us and taken care of us.  We are thankful!

The most beautiful part of this day is when grace is said. This is a precious prayer thanking God for providing for us. We thank Him for the food and we feel a sense of gratefulness. This is the best part of life - being with the family, having food to nourish us, and to feel a sense of closeness with our dear Lord.

Have a happy Thanksgiving!

Blessings

Mrs. White

Thank you What a simple but beautiful post. God has truly been good to us! My husband has had some health issues and God has blessed us more than enough. I have so much to be thankful for. The Lord is good!

Happy Thanksgiving, Mrs. White & Family! Thank you for the reminder of the simplicity of this beautiful holiday that sometimes doesn't get all that it deserves. When we begin to remember what Thanksgiving is supposed to be, then maybe we can all come together with our loved ones with an enjoyable peaceful day. May the Lord continue to bless you and your family.

Dear Mrs White, so sorry I'm late to wish you and your family a happy Thanksgiving. I am so thankful for you and the blessing your words are to my heart and spirit throughout the year and especially in these times we are living right now. Blessings ~ Linda

Thanksgiving has always been our family's favorite holiday for this very reason. God is so good! And we see how he takes care of each of us. We rejoice in that gift and the gift of each other. May He bless you and your family as well.

Happy Thanksgiving Mrs. White, your blog is a blessing to me. Just letting you know I'm so enjoying the book you helped with, 'Christmas Mothers' you posted about. I now have both of Connie Holtquist's books and will be starting on the next one after this. It's such good company in those books as well as books you have written. Very hard to find these days especially accompanied by a writer with a sweet and kind spirit.

God bless and be with you, I know you are appreciated by many of us.

Oh Mrs. White, I must tell you I have been reading Mrs. Holtquist's books that you helped with. I'm finished with 'Dear Christmas Mother' and have started 'Dear Kitchen Saints'...I am so excited to read these most wonderful books! I feel such encouragement. When I have completed the last book most likely I will be purchasing these books for my four adult daughters. These books are SO needed today! I'm so excited to read them, I just want to shout Amen and amen! I've been having such a wonderful time reading excerpts to my husband and texted excerpts to my daughters...Everyone is loving it. Oh thank God for Mrs. Holtquist, I had always seen the book on your page and didn't realize what it was exactly so my bad on that.

Thank you so much for being a cyber encouragement to women like me...Oh how we need that encouragement these days! I feel like Mrs. Holtquist really understood what is truly going on with the churches and everything else in the country.

God bless you Mrs. White, love, Amelia
