The Neglected Parlour

Flo Dombey in Captain Cuttle's Parlour

Our cozy parlour is cold and dreary today. We are conserving the last of our wood pellets until Friday when Mr. White will buy a ton for the month. Little wonder the room has been neglected. I dearly miss sitting in my favorite chair reading "Dombey and Son" by Charles Dickens. The book is almost 1,000 pages long and I am halfway through. It is such a treasure!

I have spent much of the day resting and trying to recover from ongoing illnesses. I keep taking "cleaning" breaks. In other words. I take a break from resting so I can clean for a few minutes at a time. (smiles).

In just a few days our little room will be warm again and I will be back in my chair and enjoying my book. So for now, the dream of reading and resting near the fire will have to be good enough.

We just moved our piano out of our dining room yesterday and into the "front room" which is more formal (but I think it is still cozy since it is filled with books!) and my mom said, "Now it is a real parlor." I thought that was such a good way to think of it.

Now I am going to call it "The Parlor" instead of "The Front Room." My little Cowboy will be happy because he was always getting confused (for some odd reason) between the front and back of the house. Maybe having a real name for the room will help him know where to go when I tell him to go get a book!

I hope you feel better soon.

Blessings,

Heather
