| Our tulips in the sunlight. |
I spent a recent morning dusting, sweeping, and making some of the rooms look extra pretty. I had a CD playing in the parlour as I worked. It was a gentle sound of a choir singing old fashioned hymns. This brought me a sense of peace.
The windows are open throughout the house. The cool spring air is refreshing as it airs out the house from a long winter. This is part of spring homemaking. It is a peaceful work. We clean and delight in the labor of keeping house while enjoying the beauty of nature all around. We are not to worry or allow stress to take away our peace.
While I am overseeing the cares of this house, I will not be concerned about the fears and worries of the world. (We live in this world but are not assimilated into it.) I have an important task and that is to create a sanctuary of comfort for the residents and guests of my home.
It is a blessing to smile and to be cheerful. It is helpful to be calm with confidence in the promises of God. There should be no fear in our faith. Trust our Heavenly Father as we lean on Him for our strength. To spread a light of goodness with precious deeds of kindness should be the goal of every homemaker. This will help brighten up the home, just as the sunshine of spring cheers the heart.
Blessings
Mrs. White

I cleaned my entire home this Monday morning in Autumnal Australia, with an apron on and a cheerful heart. I had been very busy with other things all last week and my housework had been neglected. A neighbour came over with a bouquet of flowers from her garden including some tight magnolia buds. You are right, kindness and spreading comfort and cheer is a good thing to do for others. Plus, I have a clean home. I am imagining your spring environment.
Such a beautiful rhythm of life! And yes, so Biblical, we are not of the world, that is why the world hates us! We have to keep our homes sanctions of respite and peace in these times. andrea
Enjoy every moment of spring and the gorgeous flowers in your yard, Mrs. White. Blessings!
Beautifully written as usual. But the last two paragraphs were so comforting that I read through them twice. Thank you for the timely reminder. 🌷
I love this post. I really needed to hear this now. Thank you.
Sadly this world lacks kindness. That was a lovely post, Mrs White, thank you.
Thank you for the reminder not to worry or fear. I really needed that today. God bless you, Mrs. White. Your blog is a source of comfort and inspiration. I also love to read the comments. I started listening to old-time pastor Vernon McGee's Thru the Bible because of a comment I read on another post. It's a wonderful community of like-minded women linked by this blog.
The simple things that bring joy. Dusting, sweeping, making the home look lovely with a simple bouquet and candel. Love the sound of old hyms that are full of doctrine and love of our God. I love having a clean house. Another thing I learned by example from my mom. I can just see her early in the morning, dressed, clean apron, and the smell of breakfast. You remind me of her, Mrs. White.
Your tulips are so lovely! Here in California we're heating up, the summer starts early here, so my plants will need extra watering. I appreciate your reminder that we are to be in the world and not of it. I've made some mistakes around that in the last few weeks but God always forgives. Wishing you a cheerful Spring!
Wow, did I need this message today. I keep forgetting that the goal of "the evil ones" is to keep us divided and distracted. Today is a good day to remember that and keep my home in good working order for others who might need it one day. It is, after all, the little things not the big that get us through life. Thank you!
I WISH I could grow tulips and peonies and lots of beauties you gals in the north get to grow. Florida is hot already and only going to get hotter. I feel like we are part Aussie in that we stay in doors during the summer time due to the hotness, and they stay indoor due to the cold. Our growing season is about the same too, lol. Who knew?
Ah well, this is the way....Everyone have a fantastic week!
this is such a delightful post...your tulips are so pretty..we are now passed the tulip season in our area...I sure wish they lasted longer. They are truly a very delicate flower and so beautiful. Hope you enjoy all of the beauty that Spring has to offer
Greetings, I have also been spring cleaning, and I think your post is a great reminder to keep our hearts focused on what we can do to keep our homes a place of comfort and sanctuary from the world.
We must encourage one another to keep in peace and to trust God! Hugs, Roxy
