Money and Marriage - Review

Book - Money and Marriage - A Complete Guide for Engaged and Newly Married Couples by Matt Bell

Publisher - NavPress

Matt Bell, a financial expert, has written a useful guidebook for couples. I love his Christian perspective! Each chapter opens with a Bible verse and an inspiring quote.

There are three sections in the book:

1. Decoding Each Other's Financial DNA
Chapters include fascinating research, charts, worksheets and helpful advice. Readers will begin to understand the reason behind their financial values and find ways to bring it all together as a couple.

2. A Ten-Step Action Plan for Financial Success
One of the quotes which I loved is: "Budget: A mathematical confirmation of your suspicions. - A.A. Latimer."
This section includes both basic and more complex explanations of managing your finances. There are more worksheets here which are easy to navigate.  He encourages hard work, saving and giving plans. Another quote here that I loved was: "I have enough money to last me the rest of my life, unless I buy something. - Jackie Mason."

3. Fostering Financial Oneness
Great ideas for doing all the required paperwork for the marriage license and updating a name change on your social security card.  I love how he explains concepts with real life stories. He tells you more than you ever thought you needed to know about finances.

The book closes with a precious prayer! Overall, this is an excellent resource and would make a great gift for engaged or newly married couples.
