The Vintage Home

Take a Letter

I love antique treasures from the old days. Do you see the charming pink typewriter in the above photograph? I love it! I would love to decorate my kitchen with more vintage charm. These kinds of treasures can be found in thrift stores, yard sales and estate sales. We have several antiques we've acquired at an estate sale we attended when we bought our current 150 year old house. I have antique sewing machines and sturdy old furniture.

Years ago, we purchased a little old farmhouse. It was on the property beside our store. It didn't seem livable but we wanted the land and the dreams that came with it. We kept it, hoping to expand our store sometime in the future. This never happened and we ended up selling it a few years later. But while we had it in our possession, we enjoyed it very much. Mr. White went through the attic and found all kinds of old things. He gave me a special present. It was a little, delicate box full of vintage ladies gloves, letters and newspaper clippings from the 1940's and 1950's. I cannot even tell you how delighted I was with this box!

These treasured items we gather into our homes will bring alive a history of our nation. It will bring a history of family and culture into our daily routine. These types of items cannot be found at the mall or at a department store. We must seek them. . . and take care of them. . . and become the keepers of our very own museums in our homes.

Blessings
Mrs. White

I love this post! I just recently found a Rodgers & Bros. silverware set(era 1952) in it's original blue felt mahagony box for 20.00 dollars at our local flea market.I will be posting some vintage jewelry from my grandmother as well. I love the charm in these "old" but new finds! Your right the history is well worth it!
Thanks,
Racheal

I LOVE the pink typewriter! Besides the pink, that typewriter looks about like one I learned how to type on...many years ago. Sweet story of the farmhouse and vintage treasures you found.
