Dear Christmas Mothers

Home for Christmas, 1784

The holiday season of Thanksgiving and Christmas is centered around the home.  While the culture around us encourages shopping and spending, it would be so nice to be comforted in the art of Christian homemaking and motherhood.  There is a new book that just may help us!

"Dear Christmas Mothers" is a sweet homemaking book, which was just published!  The author shares precious letters about her days as an Iowa housewife - a wife, mother and grandmother.  Her letters are about what she is doing in her home for Christmas.  A selection of 17 letters, from a period of 5 years of her writings were chosen to make this little book.  These are from 2000 to 2005.

As you read, you will be encouraged.  You will enjoy a literary visit to an Iowa home.  You will learn about how Christmas used to be, and how it can be.

This book would make a lovely gift for yourself, or for any mother who loves home.

It was written by Mrs. Connie Hultquist, the author of "Dear Kitchen Saints."

Thank you for the book recommendation. Just what I need I think. I opened my blog reader and was inundated with giveaways and buy this from small business with this code or that! All well-intentioned but still--so missing the meaning:-) I am going to unplug for a bit otherwise I might go crazy! LOL!
Blessings,
Suzanne

Hello Mrs. White,
We've had a death in our immediate family just a couple of weeks ago. Christmas will be very different for us as we adjust to Mother's passing. Thank you for sharing this book.

Happy Christmas season,
Laura of Harvest Lane Cottage

I will this year again, put qt canning jars in each window with zillions of tiny white lights(leftovers) pushed down inside. Simply beautiful at night. this old 70 year old house looks inviting. thank you for your wonderful writings. Blessed Christmas to you and yours.

Christmas in our home was very humble- my mother was a divorcee, and worked 2 jobs just to keep the bills paid. Presents were usually a package of underwear, or a necessity, if that. Christmas was all about the birth of the Saviour, homemade cookies and driving to see the gorgeous Christmas lights in the wealthy neighborhoods!
