Introduction to Home Economics - My New Book

For the past year, I have been working on a little homemaking course. I had elaborate plans and wanted to share such projects as making a pretty pillowcase (complete with photographs for hand-sewing), tips on cleaning, and working in the kitchen.  But it became so complicated that I gave up!

Eventually, over a period of several months, I realized I could only do something very simple and basic.  I would include a large gathering of my writings from the last 2 years, as well as three easy projects for the reader. 

The book is now published and is available for sale in paperback.

One of the projects includes detailed information about setting up a "House Account." Many have asked me to show a picture of the inside of my financial journal. I created a fictitious one, based on my personal spending.  The picture is inside this book.  I hope the description and instructions will help those who have shown an interest.

There are a total of 72 short "chapters" which contain many writings from my private newsletter. These include daily life as a homemaker and grandmother.  One of my favorites is called "The Little Mother" about my 3 year old granddaughter who is such a delight.  Some of the writings also include many blog posts, from here, over the last 2 years.

The process of doing the book was very time consuming, but I loved picking out some peaceful photographs to share.  These include some I have posted here on the blog recently, such as a covered bridge here in Vermont.  Here is a picture of my binder where the manuscript was kept while I did the editing and proofreading.

I enjoyed looking at the cover of the book, which includes a picture of a beautiful teacup given to me by a dear friend.  There is also a teapot and creamer, which was given to me by another dear one.  I printed up the cover-art to place in front of the binder.

Early Morning Revival Challenge

"Inspired by the life, writings, and journals of John Wesley (1700's), Mrs. White has created a 90 - day Bible study challenge. .

The program consists of four, easy to follow, daily assignments. Readers are expected to rise earlier in the morning than normal; Spend 20 minutes in prayer, Bible reading, writing in a journal, and reading quotes from Ministers from long ago. . .

I spent hours searching through my home library, to glean a selection of inspiring quotes from Ministers from the 1600's, 1700's and the 1800's.  These include Richard Baxter, Thomas Boston, John Wesley, Samuel Rutherford, John Bunyan, and more (one for each day of the challenge).  The book includes a complete bibliography of quotes, so you can see exactly where they came from.

I intend to start this challenge myself, in just a few days.  I have also ordered a copy for my youngest homeschool student (age 16).  I believe this will be an excellent addition to his studies.  The discipline of reading 2 chapters in the Bible each day (from Psalms and Proverbs), writing in a journal, and praying, before the day begins will be a blessing to both of us!

The New Mother's Faith

Late last year, I released a book for mothers of waywards.  It is now out of print.  A second edition is now available.  It is the exact same book, to which has been added:  An introduction, and two brief essays. 

This edition is 102 pages, a pretty pink, and is a compact purse size.

Title:  Mother's Faith:  Essays, Lamentations and Encouragement from a Christian Mother of Waywards.

I have been getting emails and comments from readers who have been greatly encouraged and helped by this book. 

It is designed to comfort Mothers and strengthen their faith.  It is designed to gently remind them to have a holy patience and to trust God with their children. 

At times, the book is painful to read. (I still cry when reading some of the chapters.)  The sadness mothers of waywards feel is universal, regardless of the circumstances.

Mother's Faith - My New Book

Christian Mothers today are often struggling with having a happy home because of wayward teenagers.  These mothers have spent years praying, teaching and training their children in godliness. They have a great hope for a godly family and for children who grow up to bring joy to their hearts.

Instead, many teenagers and young adults have periods of waywardness.  Their pain, their trials and their choices bring weeping and sorrow to their godly mothers.  But this is not the best way to face the trials of mothering older ones.

"Mother's Faith" is designed to help comfort these mothers. It is designed to inspire courage and bring them joy. 

The book contains a collection of essays, gathered from this blog. They were specifically written by this mother of five, in the midst of my own sorrow and trials, over the course of 3 years. 

 It is a plain, small paperback book, but packed with an important, ongoing message - Mother's Faith must never waver, no matter what the waywards do in the home. Mother will one day reap a harvest of joy.  This book will help give you a holy patience.
