Book - "The Waiting"
Publisher - Revell
The latest book from Suzanne Woods Fisher is just as delightful as her last book, "The Choice". Both are part of a new series, Lancaster County Secrets. Each book can be read as a stand-alone story.
"Jorie King's life is on hold. She has been waiting for Ben Zook to return to Lancaster County. Waiting for him to settle down and join the church. Waiting to marry him."
There are so many wonderful characters in this book. I loved reading about their devout Amish lives and realizing they have similar struggles and trials like all families. Throughout the entertaining plots and twists, you are gently taught the beauty of Amish wisdom and Amish faith. We see more than one main character: Jorie King and Caleb Zook. They are both anchors to their families and the community. You will read how the Amish handle the military, death, struggles with outsiders (the English), non-resistance, and the education of their children. There were quite a few passages in the book which described the teaching methods of Jorie that really helped me with homeschooling my own children. Overall the story was pleasant, inspiring and did what all good books deliver - it leaves you with some wisdom you didn't have before you began reading.
“Available October 2010 at your favorite bookseller from Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group.”

Wasn't this story wonderful! My review will be up tomorrow. I found it funny that I started "rationing" my pages in an attempt to drag the story out. I didn't want it to end!
Thank You for posting your review of this book. I love to read Amish fiction, but have never read anything by Suzanne Woods Fisher. I will definitely add this book to my collection. Thank You for such an inspirational blog. I can't wait to read what you have written each day!
Hi Mrs. White!
Thank you for your review of "The Waiting." I enjoyed the way you described Jorie and Caleb--as anchors. So true!
Your kids are sure cute! I have four, myself. Never a dull moment. Never!
Warmly, Suzanne
